Jeff Goldblum has long been one of Hollywood’s most adored actors, known for his quirky charm and mesmerizing way with words.
The silver-haired star is beloved by fans of all generations—and he certainly enjoys the spotlight. But at the 2025 Oscars, he was caught doing something on his phone that left everyone stunned. Read on to find out more.
This year’s Oscars took place at the Dolby Theatre in Las Vegas, with Hollywood’s elite turning up in their most glamorous attire, ready to impress their peers and millions of viewers worldwide.
Among the attendees was Jeff Goldblum, always a delight in interviews. The Jurassic Park actor was present thanks to his role as the Wizard in Wicked, the 2024 musical blockbuster, which was nominated for ten awards and won two—Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
Reflecting on his continued presence at the Oscars, Goldblum previously mentioned feeling lucky to still attend, nearly three decades after winning his first and only Oscar for his 1996 live-action short film, Little Surprises.
“It always feels like the first time for me,” he shared, adding that experiencing it through his wife Emilie Livingston’s perspective makes it even more special.
However, before the ceremony even started, Goldblum was caught in a rather amusing moment. A behind-the-scenes camera unknowingly captured him and his wife in an unexpected act.
While most stars were networking and socializing before the show, the 72-year-old actor had a different agenda—checking out photos of himself on his phone. As the camera zoomed in, it became clear that Goldblum was looking at an Instagram post featuring his red carpet appearance just moments earlier. He and Emilie seemed to be admiring his outfit and angles before the show kicked off.
When Entertainment Tonight later confronted him about the moment, the actor was taken aback.
“They caught you tonight,” the reporter said.
Goldblum, surprised, responded, “Oh gosh, let me see.” After realizing what they were referring to, he owned up to it immediately, laughing, “I’m busted, that’s it.”
The reporter joked that they had been doing the same thing, to which Goldblum playfully replied, “Where are more pictures of me? That’s my question,” before admitting that the one he had been looking at was a “good one.”
Fans won’t have to wait long to see him again—Goldblum is set to return as the Wizard in the sequel Wicked: For Good, hitting theaters in November 2025.
