President Donald Trump took to social media to announce, “The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” on Saturday following his first full month in office, during which U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded just 8,326 apprehensions of illegal immigrants—a historic low.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted the number of apprehensions at the southern border by Border Patrol, all of whom were “quickly ejected from our Nation or, when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States of America.”
His statement comes after he declared an emergency along the U.S.-Mexico border his first day in office.
The Trump administration’s first full month of apprehensions reflects a 96% decrease from the Biden administration’s peak in December 2023, when CBP recorded 301,981 encounters at the southern border.
“This means that very few people came – The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” Trump wrote in the post. “In comparison, under Joe Biden, there were 300,000 Illegals crossing in one month, and virtually ALL of them were released into our Country. Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants.”
In fiscal year 2024, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported 271,484 removals, while the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recorded approximately 700,000 removals and returns—the highest total for any fiscal year since 2010.
Under the Biden administration, single-day apprehensions frequently neared 10,000 illegal immigrants, exceeding the total recorded by the new administration for an entire month.
The accomplishments of the Trump administration resulted only from executive actions and stronger messaging not from any new legislation passed by Congress, Fox News noted.
“Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation,” the president wrote.
After making border security and illegal immigration a central focus of his campaign, Trump signed executive orders declaring a national emergency at the border and deploying the U.S. military to address the surge.
February was the lowest month in recorded history for encounters at our border. The world is hearing our message: do not come to our country illegally. If you do, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back.

He also issued orders to end birthright citizenship, suspend refugee admissions, halt the use of an app that facilitated migrant entry through humanitarian parole, and restart border wall construction.
In response, the Pentagon deployed troops to the southern border and opened Guantánamo Bay to house migrants.
DHS overturned ICE restrictions previously implemented by the Biden administration, granting law enforcement broader authority to enter “sensitive” locations, conduct expedited removals, and reassess the parole status of migrants admitted under parole.
According to DHS data obtained by Fox News Digital, ICE made 11,791 interior arrests from Jan. 20 to Feb. 8, a 137% increase from the 4,969 arrests during the same period in 2024.
A series of high-profile raids in “sanctuary” cities resulted in more than a thousand daily arrests, including those of violent criminals and gang members.
The country has also seen financial gains from Trump’s new border policies, including the recovery of tens of millions of dollars previously allocated to New York City for housing migrants in hotels. A recent executive order directed all federal agencies to identify federally funded programs that provide financial benefits to illegal immigrants and to “take corrective action.”
The order aims to ensure that federal funds are not used to support sanctuary policies or facilitate illegal immigration.
