Angel Reese donned a wrap on left surgically-repaired left wrist as she outlined her whirlwind run to attend the Met Gala before linking back up with the Chicago Sky.

Reese is in the midst of preseason but still had time to for the prestigious event, which she had been looking forward to for days. She posted evidenced by her social media post after Chicago’s 89-62 win over the Brazilian National Team.

At the Met Gala, Reese, in accordance with the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” code, donned a lace-up outfit designed by Thom Browne. The outfit immediately caught fans’ attention on social media, and she dazzled before jetting back to link up with her WNBA team.

The star forward was a Host Committee Member at the Met Gala, alongside names like Sha’Carri Richardson and Lewis Hamilton.

Therefore, Reese was desperate to attend and make it back to the Sky ahead of their clash with the Minnesota Lynx, but she had to undergo a wild journey to pull it off.

She landed at 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning after spending Monday night at the Met Gala in New York City. Reese was able to make it to her shootaround at 10 a.m., and admitted it was taxing on her body.

“I don’t know how I’m doing this. I’m running on vibes,” Reese said. “I think I can operate on four hours sleep, so I was good there.

“I’ve been going since playing at LSU, I had my birthday party Saturday, I left on Sunday for the Met Gala, had that yesterday, and got back at two o’clock this morning.

“Trying to maximize everything. I know tomorrow… I’m looking forward to my off day so nobody call!”

The Sky went onto to beat the Lynx 74-69 on Tuesday, with Reese putting up nine points and eight rebounds. She posted on X immediately after the game: “Now i can tweet… I MADE IT THROUGH. God DID cause whew chileeeee im TIREDDDD.”

Reese’s lack of sleep is concerning, but she was never going to miss the Met Gala. The Sky forward has been balancing sports and fashion throughout her collegiate and professional career, and has discussed her fascination with style in the past.

“It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” Reese told Vogue. “But I was a fashion girlie from young too. Like – let me find this picture my mom sent. I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.”

As she prepares for her sophomore season, Reese enjoyed a productive debut campaign in the WNBA. The 22-year-old was firmly in the Rookie of the Year race alongside rival Caitlin Clark before suffering a season-ending wrist injury, finishing with 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds.

Reese’s Sky tip off the 2025 WNBA season against Clark’s Indiana Fever on Sat., May 17.
